It started with a broken link

I kept noticing the same thing on Google Maps: great local businesses — the auto shops, florists, cleaners, and roofers people actually rely on — with a website link that went nowhere, or no link at all.

Meanwhile their competitors with a tidy site were getting the clicks, the calls, and the customers. The difference often wasn't the quality of the work. It was just being findable.
